Consent to data processing

Inspire Medical Systems GmbH ("Inspire", "we") provides comprehensive guidance and support for the treatment of sleep apnea with the Inspire tongue pacemaker. By contacting us via e-mail or through an initial telephone consultation, we will inform you of the general treatment options and requirements. Visit our website at https://www.inspiresleep.co.uk/ to find out if you are a suitable candidate for therapy. A thorough consultation and evaluation will be performed by trained physicians at the treatment center of your choice.

During the initial phone consultation, suitability testing, and e-mail communications, we will collect personal data that you provide to us, such as your name, date of birth, phone number, e-mail address, but also special categories of personal data (health data), such as your Apnea Hypopnea Index (AHI), Body Mass Index (BMI), or your referring physicians, medical history, diagnoses, and pre-existing medical conditions.

This data will be collected by us for the purpose of determining your suitability for the Inspire tongue pacemaker and will be shared with the treatment center or sleep lab (collectively, "Centers" or "Treatment Centers") and our Inspire staff responsible for those Centers. We need your consent to share your health data with the physicians at the Treatment Centers. We process the rest of your personal data to respond to your requests.

In addition, it is very important to us to accompany you through all stages of your treatment. We want to be at your side from the initial consultation, through the preliminary evaluation (necessary diagnostics), implantation, system activation, and fine-tuning of your Inspire system. For this reason, your treating physician at the Inspire Treatment Center will ask you to sign a release of confidentiality.

We will retain your data for the duration of our relationship with you and beyond if required by law. The data is stored by our technical service provider, DP-Medsystems AG, Tulpenstrasse 26, 82110 Germering near Munich, Germany, which hosts and technically maintains our database systems on behalf of Inspire. This is in compliance with legal requirements for IT security (in accordance with the GDPR) and industry standards.

You may withdraw your consent to the processing of your personal health data at any time. If you wish to withdraw your consent to the storage and use of your data, please contact our hotline 0800 06 68 698 or inspiresleep(at)dp-medservices.uk. Please note that if you withdraw your consent, you will no longer be able to receive services from Inspire that require your consent.
