Transfer of data to entities outside the European Union

Should it be necessary to transfer your personal data to a third country that does not provide an adequate level of data protection, such a transfer will only take place if the GDPR requirements for this are met. Provided that we enter into the EU standard contractual clauses with the recipient of your personal data in these cases, you may request a copy of these clauses from Inspire.

However, there may be cases where it is not possible for us to implement appropriate measures to ensure an adequate level of data protection. In such cases, the legal basis for the transfer will be your voluntary consent, which you can give or refuse prior to the transfer (if you refuse, no transfer will take place). In such situations, it may not be possible to fully protect your rights in the United States of America. For example, it may not be possible to prevent government access to personal information to the same extent as within the European Union. It is also sometimes possible that government agencies in the United States of America may not fully comply with their information obligations. You will be explicitly informed in the respective declaration of consent whether the transfer of personal data to the United States of America is based on your consent.

Duration of data storage

We store your personal data as long as this is necessary for the purpose of processing and, in addition, as long as we are legally obliged to do so. For example, we are required by law to retain records for tax purposes and for accounting purposes. The retention periods range from six to ten years. Insofar as we are required by law to retain the data, it will be stored in a limited form for your protection and will be deleted at the end of the period in accordance with our data protection concept.

Your rights

You have the right of access, the right to rectification, the right to erasure, the right to restriction of processing  and the right to data portability.

In addition, you have a right to object in the event of data processing based on our legitimate interests.

If you have given your consent for us to process personal data for a specific purpose, this consent is the legal basis for the processing of your personal data. You can withdraw your consent at any time without affecting the lawfulness of the processing carried out on the basis of consent prior to your withdrawal. You can also informally withdraw your consent using the address above.

You have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority if you believe that the processing of your personal data is in breach of the GDPR. This right is without prejudice to any other rights you may have.

Provision of personal data

In the context of the contractual relationship, we collect your personal data only for the purposes described above, i.e. to the extent necessary for the proper performance of the contract. You are not obliged to provide any personal data. However, if you do not provide personal data, the contract cannot be fulfilled.

If you give us your consent, we will use your personal data exclusively for the purpose covered by the consent; this purpose is described in detail in the consent text. Consent is voluntary, i.e. you may or may not give your consent.

If the processing of your personal data is based on legal requirements, there is an obligation to provide information based on these legal requirements. In order to comply with these legal requirements, we need the necessary information from you, which may include personal data. If you do not provide the necessary information, we will not be able to establish or maintain the desired business relationship with you.

If we process your personal data based on our legitimate interests, you may be required to provide it on the basis of the general duty to provide assistance. In each case, before we process your personal data, we will verify whether the processing is necessary and whether your interests in not having the data processed outweigh the need for processing. In the case of processing based on our legitimate interests, you have the right to object.

Information about the right to object

You have the right to object at any time, on grounds relating to your particular situation, to the processing of personal data concerning you which is carried out on the basis of our legitimate interests. You can find more detailed information on our data processing and on which regulations we base this in each case in our privacy statement. If you object, we will no longer process your personal data unless we can demonstrate compelling legitimate grounds for the processing that override your interests, rights and freedoms, or the processing is necessary for the establishment, exercise or defense of legal claims.

The objection can be made free of charge and informally and should be sent to the following address:

Types of cookies (background information)

Cookies are small text files that are stored on your hard drive in the browser you are using, and which allow certain information to be sent to the website that set the cookie. Cookies cannot run programs or deliver viruses to your computer. They are used to make our website more user-friendly and effective.

Cookies may take the form of session cookies, which store a so-called session ID (your visit to the website is considered a "session" until you close your browser). The session ID allows us to associate different requests from your browser with the same session. This allows your device to be recognized as you navigate through our website and its sub-sites, making it easier to fill out forms, for example, or allowing us to remember your preferred language settings. Session cookies are deleted when you close your browser.

Another type of cookies are persistent cookies, which are automatically deleted after a certain period of time that varies by cookie. You can also delete persistent cookies at any time through your browser’s security settings.

First-party cookies are managed and placed by us, while third-party cookies are managed and placed by a third-party vendor. Third-party cookies are typically placed by that third party for advertising purposes. Third-party cookies transmit and collect information through other websites so that third parties can access it.

Essential Cookies. We use cookies to keep our website running reliably and securely. Without these cookies, we would not be able to provide you with a reliable and secure website and some features of our website would be significantly limited. By using these Essential Cookies, we can, for example, save your cookie settings or prevent access by bots to ensure the security of our website.

Optional Cookies. We also use cookies to analyze your user behavior, to improve our website and for advertising purposes ("Optional Cookies"). Optional Cookies are only set if you have declared your consent.

Please click "Accept" if you wish to declare your consents. You can withdraw your consents at any time in the cookie settings.

You also have the option to make a selection among the Optional Cookies and only consent to the use of selected Optional Cookies. To select, please click on "Settings" and then on "Accept".

If you do not want Optional Cookies to be set, please click "Reject Optional Cookies".

Essential cookies

We use the following technically necessary cookies on our website, without which some functions of our website would be limited or would not work:

  • Cookie Consent cookie

If your consent is required for a cookie to be used, we store the information about whether or not you have given that consent via the Cookie Consent cookie.

The following cookie will be set:

    • CookieConsent - the cookie is used to store your selection made via the cookie banner. Only numbers and a timestamp are stored. The cookie is a first-party persistent cookie (for explanation see "Types of cookies (background information)" above). It is stored for 12 months.

The legal basis for the processing of your personal data when using the Cookie Consent cookie is our legitimate interest. We have a legitimate interest in storing your consent for a limited period of time. Otherwise, we would have to ask you for your consent again each time you visit our website, which would significantly impair the usability of our website. We always take into account your interest in not storing your data, which is why the cookie is deleted after 12 months. You have the right to object to the processing of your data by the Cookie Consent cookie (see above for more information on your right to object).

  • Cloudflare cookie

We use this cookie to confirm that you are visiting our website from a known and trusted terminal, even if you are visiting it from a potentially insecure network (such as an internet café). We use the Cloudflare service to ensure the security of our website.

    • __cf_bm - the cookie is used to manage incoming traffic and prevent access by bots. A user ID is stored. The cookie is a third-party persistent cookie (for explanation see "Types of cookies (background information)" above). It is stored for 30 minutes.

For more information provided by Cloudflare regarding the use of Cloudflare cookies, please visit: https://cloudflare.com/privacypolicy/. We have entered into a data processing agreement with Cloudflare. In order to ensure an adequate level of data protection for the transfer of your personal data to the United States of America, we have entered into the EU Standard Contractual Clauses with Cloudflare.

The legal basis for the processing of your personal data in connection with the use of Cloudflare cookie is our legitimate interest. We have a legitimate interest in ensuring the IT security of our website in order to detect criminal activity and speed up loading times, thereby remaining competitive. We always take into account your interest in not storing your data, which is why the cookie is deleted after 30 minutes. You have the right to object to the processing of your data by the Cloudflare cookie (see above for more information on your right to object).

You have the right to object to the processing at any time (more information on your right to object can be found above).

Optional cookies

We use optional cookies to help us understand how you interact with our website by providing information about which websites or search terms brought you to our website, how long you typically stay on our website, or how many sub-sites you visit on average. We use this information to improve the content of our website and to compile statistics about individual use of our website for internal market research purposes.

We use Google Analytics through the Google Tag Manager, a solution that allows advertisers to manage website tags through a single interface. Only in exceptional cases will the full IP address be transmitted to Google in the USA, where it will be truncated. If the data collected contains any personal data about you, it will be deleted immediately. The IP address transmitted by your browser as part of Google Analytics will not be combined with other data held by Google.
